Tellers: An American Chophouse - Islip
Tellers' dining room is what you'd best describe as grand, as it's dominated by 30-foot ceilings and Art Deco friezes. The setting of the restaurant certainly aims to enhance your dining experience as you settle in for a grand feast of classic American steakhouse fare.
Start with the signature duck fat fries, a treat for the table, which come with house-made ketchup and mustard dipping sauces. There's also a raw bar loaded with oysters, jumbo shrimp cocktail and other favorites.
Those delights are only the beginning, of course. The main entrees consist of generous portions of steaks, chops and seafood, ranging from a boneless New York strip to roasted branzino topped with lemon-caper brown butter.
There are regular events happening at Tellers as well. Every Sunday, guests may take advantage of the prix-fixe, three-course menu for $45; Tuesdays are reserved for the three-course wine dinner for $50; and the first Friday of every month is the Tellers' wine experience. That's when the restaurant's sommelier "breaks into the vault" and shares wines to best illustrate each month's theme.
